Digital Construction Week Set for a New Home in 2017

The organisers of Digital Construction Week (DCW) – the event dedicated to innovation and technology in the built environment and the first digital construction event to launch here in UK - announced today that the event, which is now in its third year, is moving to London’s EXCEL for 2017.

With the 2015 & 2016 events both having been staged at the Business Design Centre in Islington, the show will now move across the capital. The change is one the show organisers are excited about, Oliver Hughes, Event Director at DCW described the rationale behind the move; “The digital construction agenda is growing at pace here in the UK, and globally, and we need to grow with it. In two short years, ideas that would have been perceived previously as ‘blue sky’ are now becoming a reality. VR is a great example; in 2015 for many it was still very much a fad but last year we saw people really starting to realise its potential across the industry. We’re seeing a lot of technology currently moving this way: from concept to practical application.”

Luke Collings, Director at DCW continues “Our aim this year is to bring in many exciting new features & installations - like Arup’s Ai Build - as well as growing our seminar programme. The response to last year’s show demonstrated that the level of demand for our event is significant, and we expect that interest to increase as we become more established and recognised as the go-to event for innovators within AECO. That’s most of the reason behind the move, we need a venue that can accommodate the scale of our ambitions and that of the industry.”

Free Exhibition

As always, visitors will have the chance to meet hundreds of exhibitors from across the AECO supply chain to discuss and demo some of the most innovative technologies and workflows. This year will see the return of HS2 who will be running a series of afternoon workshops, BAM will be showcasing the world’s first 3D Builder, and Arcadis will be joining the fold as one of the shows headline partners.

New Date

Following feedback from last year’s event, DCW will now take place slightly earlier on 18-19th October.

New Focus & Format

This year, DCW will focus much more on wider business and industry transformation, with a two day thought leadership conference featuring expert speakers from around the globe.

The show will also have 5 new areas based on the trends shaping the digital construction agenda - BIM, Geospatial, Visualisation, Smart Buildings, and Industry 4.0. Each area will offer dedicated seminar content covering 3 different aspects - Digital in Action (Practical Case Studies), Innovation (Looking ahead), and Tech (tools & technology).

If you’d like to share information about a project, innovation or digital technology at DCW2017, the organisers are now accepting speaker submission papers, which can be submitted online here.

New Features

  • Drone drag racing
  • Machine control & Connected site demo zone
  • 'Future of…' Panel Debates
  • Smart Building room sets
  • BIM Classrooms in partnership with the UK BIM Alliance

Pre-registration for the exhibition has already opened, with tickets for the main conference theatre expected to launch soon.
