Digital Intergeo 2020 Starts This Tuesday

From 13 to 15 October, the virtual doors to Intergeo 2020 will be open on www.intergeo.digital. This year, all the familiar ingredients of the annual Intergeo event will be available online: exhibitors, products, highlights, keynotes, networking and global matchmaking! Through the virtual ‘entry hall’, visitors can access all the areas: Discover, Learn, Connect and Conference.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, all the essential elements of the live trade fair – the conference, exhibitor stands with various interaction options, stages, personal exchange, and areas for networking and getting to know each other – are this year being translated into a digital format.

The Discover section is individual and tailored to visitors’ own interests and preferences, based on their profile. The system suggests suitable suppliers and solutions, presentations, highlights and interesting facts.

Intergeo Lounge

Daily from 9.00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CET), the Intergeo Lounge will take attendees on a journey through all aspects of Intergeo.digital. The experienced Intergeo TV moderation and editorial team will guide visitors and help them to explore this year’s digital event. With live music, talks, connections to the exhibitors and reports from the internet, Intergeo Lounge is an important pillar of the event. The multifunctional event hall of Crystal Sounds is the location for the daily live events.

Experience inspiring, useful, practical and highly interesting insights live every day on the EXPO STAGE! There will be lectures, in-depth presentations and overviews on the topics of innovation, smart city and drones, broadcast directly from the solution provider to your home or office.

Networking

Networking has always been a big part of Intergeo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, all the traditional Intergeo network opportunities will take place digitally, but still offer an excellent occasion to meet with other visitors or exhibitors. Participants can communicate using Intergeo’s messaging service or in the digital video room provided for them.

Conference

The conference ticket enables attendees to find out what contribution geodesy and geoinformation can make to climate protection, the digitalization of the construction industry and the resilience of cities. The three-day digital programme includes technological trends such as blockchain, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Smart Mapping shows official cartography in a state of upheaval. First-class keynote speeches and presentations will provide contributions on standardization in digital planning and construction, and developments in building information modelling (BIM).

The Smart City topic area of the conference is dedicated to the challenges and requirements of cities. Climate protection and adaptation to climate change will deal with the roadmap for the climate and environmental policy challenges of our time – both worldwide, at EU level, and especially at local level. The ‘EU Green Deal - Challenges for Land Management’ is a particular focus of attention.

Press conference

The traditional Intergeo press conference will be held on Wednesday 14 October. Under normal circumstances, key experts from the industry participate in a panel discussion followed by a Q&A session. This is an annual highlight for the media, as it provides a major update on the latest trends and developments in the geospatial industry. This year’s press conference will take place digitally, and will be moderated by GIM International’s technical editor Huibert-Jan Lekkerkerk. It will start at 5 p.m. (CET). The main topics will be the impact of the pandemic on the industry and how the industry is responding, technology trends as market drivers, and new products and solutions from manufacturers.
