Glanville Environmental Attains Membership of The Survey Association - 31/05/2019

Glanville Environmental, including its specialist survey division Glanville Geospatial Services, has announced that it has been accepted as an Affiliate Member of The Survey Association.

Glanville Geospatial Services was founded in 2017, initially to support the civil engineering and wastes management services of Glanville Environmental, headquartered at Lee Mill in Devon.  However, the geospatial business unit quickly thrived in its own right, winning high profile project work from major organizations across the South West and Wales, including South West Water, Exeter University and Bristol City Council.

Its complete portfolio of geospatial services now includes 3D laser scanning, topographic surveys, utility surveys, hydrographic surveys, UAV (drone) surveys and BIM modelling. All survey methods and workflows are adapted to maximize efficiency and suit the needs of each client and project.

The UK Land & Hydrographic Survey Association – generally known as TSA – was formed in 1979 as a specialist trade association for companies involved in the fields of land and hydrographic surveying.  With 180 member companies nationally, the association exists to promote best practice and to support its members with opportunities for discussion and professional development.

TSA also engages with other members of the construction industry, including architects and engineers, to provide guidance on the latest surveying techniques. It works closely with other relevant survey associations, RICS and ICES, to co-ordinate activities; and lobbies government and public bodies on issues likely to affect the industry.

TSA’s online search facility enables its members to be found easily and provides assurance of the quality and professionalism of the companies listed.

Members undergo a rigorous application process over several weeks, which includes an assessment of technical skill based on project evidence; an in-depth interview; and submission of the company’s financial performance. Finally, new members are granted formal acceptance by the Council.

“It’s a huge honour to have attained membership of The Survey Association,” commented Alex Langley, Head of Geospatial Services at Glanville. “We have invested strongly in our technology, people and processes, and it’s a great testament to receive this endorsement of our professionalism and service quality.”
