Volaero Drones, a Miami based Drone Tech Startup Company, has signed an agreement with San Diego based Geodetics Inc to integrate, deploy, and resell its advanced LiDAR and RGB imagery fusion technologies with the Geo-MMS, a Mobile Mapping System, for small UAS solutions. Holography Lidar System Enables Scanning Through Foliage

The US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC has developed a technology that enables lidar to scan through obscurants such as foliage thanks to a holographic system built to exploit a process called optical phase conjugation. The system works by emitting a pulsed laser with pulse widths of several nanoseconds. General Motors Snaps up LiDAR Tech Company

US auto giant General Motors has hit the accelerator on its driverless car project by acquiring LiDAR startup company Strobe. The move makes them a part of GM’s own driverless car startup, Cruise, with Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt stating it will help reduce the cost of LiDAR by nearly 100%. Environment Agency Uncovers England's Landscape with Lidar

The British Environment Agency has announced plans to map England’s entire landscape by 2020, using the data to assess flood risk and inform conservation work. Using aircraft equipped with laser scanners, the Environment Agency will map all 130,000 square kilometres of the country, including rivers, fields and national parks – equivalent to 32 million football pitches. The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute is working with 3D at Depth to develop a lidar system capable of measuring the ocean floor at resolutions of one centimetre.
